Winter is hitting us right now with a catch-up vengeance. I don't have any photos of the new snow we received yet. It is just starting to get light so I'm not sure how much came down last night. The blizzard is supposed to continue through Sunday morning. We could end up with a lot of snow since the lake-effect machine is in full throttle.
The last couple of days we did a couple of snowshoes. The first we drove part-way to the log slide and walked the Masse Homestead Trail. When we got to the Masse Homestead campground, we headed up into the dunes from that point. That was difficult since the dune was frozen. The view was worth it.
Near the camping site there was this birch tree with a cool design. I'm sure that campers probably peeled the bark, which is not good for the tree. However, it was still artistic looking with the great patterns.
Yesterday it was very windy and cold, so we decided to snowshoe in the school forest east of town. Below is a photo of the Sucker River and one of the chimney.
