NASA is offering programs developed at its Wallops Flight Facility to teach students and educators about the agency's flight initiatives.
The agency says the two programs will let students and teachers get hands-on experience using NASA sounding rockets and scientific balloons. The programs also will allow them to interact directly with NASA engineers and scientists.
The Wallops Rocket Academy for Teachers and Students will help reinforce science, technology, engineering, and mathematics concepts. High school teachers and students will participate in person or virtually.
The Wallops Balloon Experience for Educators provides opportunities for high school teachers to fly experiments on scientific flights.
Selected participants will have the opportunity to attend a rocketry flight week June 19 to 24, 2011 at the facility on Virginia's Eastern Shore. [MoonAndBack]
