President Obama to Talk Space on April 15

President Barack Obama plans to host a "Space Conference" in Florida Thursday, April 15, 2010 on his administration's approach to the next step in space exploration as a follow-on to his NASA FY 2011 budget proposal. Obama will unveil an "ambitious plan" for NASA that backs private spaceships and developing new rocket technology at the planned conference at or near the Kennedy Space Center.

The most vocal support for the president's commercial space policies have come from New Mexico Governor Bill Richardson and by resolutions passed by the Virginia General Assembly. Both state are expected to grow commercial space firms with suborbital in New Mexico at Spaceport America and orbital in Virginia at the Mid-Atlantic Regional Spaceport on Wallops Island.
