After staying in Globe, Wendy and I started to head to Phoenix to pick up Helen, one of our Grand Canyon Clan who was flying in from Marquette. We had some time to kill so we both said that it would be great to find a natural area or botanical gardens. Low and behold -- there it was: Boyce Thompson Arboretum located an hour or so east of Phoenix. It was a beautiful day and the facility was fantastic. It certainly got us in the mood and acclimated us to the desert climate, as well as its plant life.
