Space Politics: Ares-1 Push Back Underway

Key members of the House Science and Technology Committee Tuesday expressed disagreement with the recent summary White House report on the future of the American space program lead by Norman Augustine. There is a growing cleveage of opinion between civil and commercial space advocates as to American human spaceflight strategies involving commercial launch providers and the in-house NASA ride. But there is one matter that everyone seems to agree: MORE MONEY NEEDED. Former NASA Administrator Mike Griffin put the federal budget decline in stark stark terms noting that NASA's annual budget has suffered a 20 percent decline in real dollars since 1994.
