The five hours friend, Wendy, and I spent in the dunes on Sunday ended with us walking back west to our car parked at the Log Slide. We were entertained by a terrific sunset.
During the hike we saw two more telegraph poles. One still had wires attached.
The path we hiked along the south side of the dunes, until we looped back to the log slide, allowed us to see many "hidden" sections of the dunes that very few people explore. There were meadows, forests, and several isolated sections of dunes that very few people explore.
We called this the bird hike. We scared up a hawk that flew right over our heads, saw several unusual song birds, and then we were entertained by this immature eagle. For an immature eagle, he sure was huge.
