Pictured Rocks Hike -- Fifth Posting

The last part of the Chapel Loop hike took us from Mosquito Beach back to the parking lot for a total section of just over 2.5 miles.

We had a long break and took our shoes off so we could walk around the rocks at Mosquito.

Although most of the rock at Mosquito is sandstone formation, if you look close there are sections with "fossilized" ripple marks.

After we left Mosquito Beach we hiked across the Mosquito River and then up a long incline that passes diagonally up the large dunal formation south of Mosquito. The angle of incline allows a beautiful view of the woods. The hike to Mosquito Falls is 1.6 miles. From the falls back to the parking lot is just under a mile.
