
The first installment of
Moon Mineralogy Mapper (M3) data has been
released and is
now available, advised
Dr. Carle Pieters, M3 PI at Brown University. M3 is an orbital imaging spectrometer that operated from 450 to 3000 nm. It was built at JPL and flown on India’s Chandrayaan-1 lunar spacecraft. Almost all data were taken in the lower resolution
“Global” mode that includes 85 simultaneous co-registered spectral channels. More information about M3 can be found at the
M3 website. Dr. Pieters is a part of the
NASA Lunar Science Institute.
