The first installment of Moon Mineralogy Mapper (M3) data has been released and is now available, advised Dr. Carle Pieters, M3 PI at Brown University. M3 is an orbital imaging spectrometer that operated from 450 to 3000 nm. It was built at JPL and flown on India’s Chandrayaan-1 lunar spacecraft. Almost all data were taken in the lower resolution “Global” mode that includes 85 simultaneous co-registered spectral channels. More information about M3 can be found at the M3 website. Dr. Pieters is a part of the NASA Lunar Science Institute.
